Masacre de Aurora: La Policía detona trampas explosivas en casa del presunto asesino James Holmes
La Policía ha detonado una carga explosiva en casa de James Eagan Holmes, el presunto autor de la masacre del cine de Aurora (Colorado), en la que han muerto 12 personas y han resultado heridas otras 70 heridas, 11 de ellas en estado crítico, informa EFE.
Eagan Holmes, de 24 años, irrumpió el jueves en la sesión de madrugada del estreno de la última película de Batman, El Caballero Oscuro: La Leyenda Renace, ataviado con una armadura negra y una máscara de gas. El presunto asesino, que ya ha sido detenido, abrió fuego contra la audiencia tras arrojar bombas de humo para ocultar su posición y confundir al público, que contemplaba atónito lo que estaba sucediendo.
"Su apartamento se encuentra repleto de cables conectados a botellas de plástico que contienen un líquido desconocido", informó el jefe adjunto del Departamento de Bomberos de Aurora, Chris Henderson, este sábado. La Policía comenzó a trabajar en la desactivación de los explosivos el viernes y un día después decidió provocar una detonación controlada durante la compleja operación, informa CNN.
El sospechoso había puesto la música a todo volumen antes de abandonar su domicilio por última vez, en lo que parece una trampa para provocar una queja de los vecinos y atraer a la Policía para que los agentes hicieran estallar los explosivos.
"Si hubiéramos acabado con su vida, no me cabe duda de que las trampas estaban ahí para matar a los primeros que entraran en el apartamento", indicó una fuente policial anónima. El jefe de Policía de Aurora, Dan Oates, informó de la decisión de hacer estallar estas cargas mediante un robot tras consultar con las autoridades federales, que dieron su visto bueno a la operación.
6.000 BALAS COMPRADAS ONLINE
La Policía local ha incautado en el domicilio un ingente arsenal compuesto por 6.000 balas obtenidas en Internet, "múltiples cargadores" de rifles de asalto, así como de tambor redondo para determinados modelos de ametralladoras; "una gran cantidad de cables, alambres trampa, tarros llenos de municiones y frascos llenos de líquidos".
Durante las labores policiales en el domicilio del presunto autor del tiroteo los agentes han evacuado cinco edificios cercanos al apartamento, acordonando todo el perímetro. En la zona, varios vecinos han mostrado consignas contra el supuesto asesino. En uno de los edificios cercanos podía leerse en un cartel: "Víctimas del 20 de julio, se fueron pero no han sido olvidadas".
La Policía ya ha identificado a varios de los fallecidos en la matanza, y ha comenzado a informar a sus familiares. La víctima más joven del tiroteo ha sido una niña de apenas seis años, según relata Lainformación.com.
OBAMA DECRETA CINCO DÍAS DE LUTO
El presidente de Estados Unidos, Barack Obama, ha decretado cinco días de luto nacional. "Este es el momento de expresar todo nuestro apoyo y solidaridad para la gente de Aurora en estos momentos difíciles", ha afirmado Obama, que ha suspendido los próximos eventos correspondientes a la campaña electoral para los comicios presidenciales de noviembre.
El dirigente ha justificado esta decisión "en señal de respeto por las víctimas de los actos violentos perpetrados de forma inadmisible en Aurora" a manos de James Holmes, según han recogido medios locales. Obama, que tenía previsto otro mitin para el pasado viernes en Winter Park (Florida), va a regresar a Washington. Su esposa, Michelle Obama, y el vicepresidente, Joe Biden, también cancelaron sus actos del viernes.
El mandatario estadounidense ha ofrecido ayuda a las víctimas y a las autoridades de Colorado para investigar lo ocurrido y procesar a Holmes. "Los policías federales y locales han respondido al suceso y el Gobierno hará todo lo que pueda para apoyar a la gente de Aurora", ha subrayado. El presidente ha calificado lo sucedido como un "crimen horrendo". "Incluso si averiguamos cómo ha ocurrido esto y quién es el responsable, puede que nunca comprendamos qué puede llevar a una persona a aterrorizar a sus semejantes. Tal maldad es un sinsentido, va más allá de toda razón", ha afirmado Obama en su discurso semanal a la nación.
RAJOY MUESTRA SU APOYO
El presidente del Gobierno de España, Mariano Rajoy, ha enviado un telegrama de condolencia a su homólogo estadounidense en señal de solidaridad. "Quiero manifestarle mi más profundo pesar, el de mi Gobierno y el del pueblo español por el asesinato indiscriminado de doce personas en una sala de cine de Aurora, en Colorado", ha escrito en el mensaje enviado a Obama.
Rajoy ha pedido también a Obama que traslade a las familias de las víctimas el apoyo y solidaridad de todos los españoles, así como el deseo de pronta recuperación a los heridos.
