Muere George Martin, 'el quinto Beatle'
George Martin, productor musical conocido como el quinto Beatle por su papel en la banda británica, ha fallecido a los 90 años de edad, según ha informado el batería Ringo Starr a través de su cuenta en la red social Twitter.
"Que Dios bendiga a George Martin. Paz y amor para Judy y su familia. Amor de Ringo y Barbara. Le echaremos de menos", ha indicado el antiguo miembro de Los Beatles en un primer mensaje. "Gracias por todo vuestro amor y bondad. Paz y amor para George", ha agregado.
Martin es conocido como el quinto Beatle por su amplia participación en los primeros discos del grupo inglés, teniendo un papel en ellos como arreglista, compositor y productor.
Al margen de sus trabajos con Los Beatles, Martin produjo grabaciones para otros grupos y artistas como Elton John, Cilla Black, Kenny Rogers, Matt Monro, Jeff Beck, John Williams, Neil Sedaka y Ultravox, entre otros.
Así, es considerado como uno de los principales productores de la historia, con 30 sencillos llegando al número uno en las listas de Reino Unido y 23 logrando tal posición en Estados Unidos.
