El Vaticano pide al Gobierno italiano que modifique la ley de homofobia
La Santa Sede considera que violará los acuerdos del Concordato, por ejemplo, al no permitir que las escuelas privadas católicas organicen actos contrarios a la nueva legislación.
El Vaticano ha pedido formalmente al Gobierno italiano que modifique el proyecto de ley contra la homofobia y transfobia que está siendo examinado actualmente en el Senado, pues considera que en algunos de sus pasajes podría violar el Concordato, al acuerdo que regula las relaciones entre Iglesia y Estado. Se trata de una solicitud inédita en la historia y relación de ambos países, que ha dado a conocer Il Corriere della sera.
Entre las cuestiones planteadas figura que las escuelas católicas privadas no estarían exentas de organizar actividades durante la futura Jornada Nacional contra la Homofobia, pero también ante el temor de que colisione con la libertad de pensamiento de los católicos y las posibles consecuencias judiciales derivadas. “Pedimos que se tengan en cuenta nuestras preocupaciones”, ha referido la Santa Sede al Gobierno italiano.

La petición ha sido formulada mediante una nota verbal, presentada por el secretario de Relaciones con los Estados, Paul Richard Gallagher, el pasado jueves en la Embajada italiana ante la Santa Sede. En la comunicación se ha señalado que algunos contenidos actuales de la propuesta legislativa “reducen la libertad garantizada a la Iglesia Católica por el artículo 2, párrafos 1 y 3 del acuerdo de revisión del Concordato”.
Los párrafos mencionados se refieren a la “libertad de organización, de público ejercicio de culto, de ejercicio de magisterio y del ministerio episcopal” y a la garantía “a los católicos y sus asociaciones y organizaciones la plena libertad de reunión y manifestación del pensamiento con la palabra, los escritos y cualquier otro medio de difusión”.
El proyecto de ley contra la homofobia y la transfobia impulsado por el diputado del Partido Demócrata (PD) Alessandro Zan se aprobó en la Cámara de los Diputados con 265 votos a favor y 193 en contra el pasado 4 de noviembre. Desde entonces, la nueva normativa espera la luz verde del Senado por la feroz oposición de la derecha y la ultraderecha.
